Water COC Certificate
A Water COC Certificate, or Plumbing COC Certificate is required by ‘The City of Cape Town’ for every property being transferred to new owners. It is the new owners responsibility to get the property inspected by a Registered Plumber who can grant a ‘Certificate of Compliance’ or ‘COC Certificate’.
The by-law is there to ensure that all properties are brought in line with current standards to ensure that potable water is handled correctly, minimising waste.
In order to get a COC Certificate, Drain-it Plumbers will inspect the property and issue a certificate if all qualifying requirements are met.
If there are plumbing issues, we will quote on the repairs needed and carry out the necessary work, subject to approval of the quotation…
Once all COC requirements are met, we will issue the Water Compliance Certificate, which is valid for a period of 6-months from date of issue subject to there being no additional changes to the plumbing.
Plumbing COC Certificate Requirements
In order to get the Water COC Certificate issued, the property you have purchased needs to conform to code. This means that plumbing needs to be checked for leaks, that all drainage systems are working correctly (again no leaks) and that Storm Water Drainage isn’t connected to Sewer Lines (or vice-vera). Geysers, other hot water systems and grey water systems are also checked.
